Help your child learn to read!!!

Do you have (or know) a child who is smart but can’t seem to learn to read, at least not by the method used at his school?  The child may be dyslexic.  That means he sees letters differently than most people do.

About one in five people in this country have dyslexia.  It’s found mostly in boys, but some girls have it.  Dyslexia isn’t a simple eye problem that an eye doctor can spot in a routine vision test.  Someone trained about it, such as a reading interventionist (a specialist in reading problems), would make that call.  Some school systems now have such a person on staff.

But the good news is:  Anyone with reading problems (whether diagnosed as having dyslexia or not) can be helped by “the Red Fern method” presented on this website.

More good news:  People with dyslexia are often smarter than the average person.  With the right kind of guidance from a parent or other caring person, they often make rapid progress in reading and become real successes in life.

The Red Fern method was developed and used to great success with many dyslexic youngsters (and a few dyslexic adults) by Kate Ball of Durant, OK.  Unfortunately, Kate died a few years ago.  But her method lives on in the many people she helped learn to read and in those who learned the Red Fern method from her and are using it in working with students.
